Candle Care 101

Before Lighting:

  • Before you light your TLC candle, please trim the wick at least 1/4 inch. This will prevent unsteady burning or flaring.
  • Keep the wax away from debris, wick trimmings, dirt or any other flammable item at all times.
  • Stand the TLC jar on a stable, heat-resistant surface. Helps prevent glass from breaking or cracking and heat damage to table surfaces.
  • Please avoid vents, or air currents. It will prevent uneven burning, sooting or excessive dripping.
  • Burn candle for 2-4 hours each time you light it. This helps the candle burn evenly and don't forget to trim the wicks before each use.

In The Time of Burning:

  • Always be sure to keep children and pets away. The candle can be knocked over by pets, children or anyone else.
  • Please burn the candle within visible sight and away from flammable objects such as books, paper, carpets, bedding, flammable home decoration and/or decor, furniture.
  • Never leave a candle unattended or lit while sleeping. If you are leaving the room, please extinguish candle first.
  • Never touch or move a burning candle nor move a candle when the wax is hot and liquified 
  • If burning more than one candle at a time, please each at least three inches apart from one another or create their own areas.
  • Extinguish a candle in the case of the flame gets too high or flickers frequently. Ahead of relighting, leave candle to cool, check for air drafts and trim wick.

During Extinguishing:

  • If available, use an candle snuffer (available under "TLC Candles") to extinguish the candle. the safest way to prevent hot wax from spilling or splattering. 
  • Please do NOT use water to extinguish a candle, this can cause splatter and can break the glass.
  • Prior to leaving the room, the candle must be completely out and now light glow coming from the wick ember
  • Lastly, do not move or touch the candle until it has completely cooled.
