Tender Love & Candle Co. is a candle company based in The Bronx, New York. This page explains what happens to your information when you visit tlandcandle.com, buy a candle, create an account or join the newsletter.

We only ask for what an order needs.

• ✦When you order: name, email, delivery and billing address, phone number if you give one, and what you bought.
• ✦When you create an account: name, email, password and the addresses you save.
• ✦When you join the newsletter: your email address only.
• ✦When you write to us: your message and the address you write from.
• ✦When you browse: pages visited and rough location, collected without cookies by our analytics tool.

We never see or store your card number. Payment details go straight to Shopify's checkout and are handled by the payment provider.

• ✦To take payment, pack your parcel and get it to you.
• ✦To send order confirmations, shipping notices and replies to your questions.
• ✦To keep your account, order history and saved addresses available to you.
• ✦To send the newsletter, if you asked for it.
• ✦To understand which pages are read, so the site gets better.
• ✦To meet our accounting and tax obligations.

We work with a small number of companies, and only for the jobs above.

• ✦Shopify, which runs the store, the checkout and the customer records.
• ✦The payment provider connected to the checkout, which processes the card.
• ✦Vercel, which hosts this website.
• ✦The carriers, USPS and UPS, which need your address to deliver.
• ✦Our analytics and email tools, listed in the cookie policy.

We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for anyone else's advertising.

• ✦Order records: as long as accounting law requires, generally several years.
• ✦Account details: until you ask us to close the account.
• ✦Newsletter: until you unsubscribe, which is one click in every email.
• ✦Messages you send us: up to two years, so we can pick up a conversation where it stopped.

Wherever you live, you can ask us to show you what we hold, correct it, or delete it. Write to hello@tlandcandle.com and we will answer within thirty days.

If you are in California, you may also ask which categories of information we collected in the past twelve months, and you can exercise these rights without being treated differently. We do not sell personal information.

If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you also have the right to a copy of your data in a portable format, to object to certain uses, and to complain to your local data protection authority.

The site runs over an encrypted connection. Passwords are handled by Shopify and never reach us in readable form. Your session is kept in a cookie that JavaScript cannot read.

No system is perfect. If something ever goes wrong with your data, we will tell you and say what we are doing about it.

This shop is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under sixteen. If that happened, write to us and we will delete it.

If this page changes in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top and, for anything significant, say so in the newsletter.
